Jim Ryan, CEO

CEO, Jim Ryan, comes to Viken Detection from Analogic where he led the Security Detection, Power Technologies Group and Global Operations. While at Analogic, he introduced a novel CT scanner for airport security checkpoints in partnership with American Airlines, the first-generation Rapid DNA instrument for law enforcement and several power amplifiers for MRI and motion control applications. He also started Analogic’s operations in China. Prior to that, Jim was a strategy consultant at Booz & Company where he engaged with Fortune 500 companies in the Aerospace & Defense, Automotive and Specialized Industrial sectors. He also worked in Ingersoll Rand’s Advanced Technology Group developing next-generation hand-held industrial tools. Jim earned his Master’s Degrees in Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering from MIT.

Peter Rotshchild

Peter Rothschild, Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer

CTO, Peter Rothschild, was the longtime Chief Scientist and Director of Research and Development at American Science and Engineering Inc.  Dr. Rothschild earned an Honors Degree in Physics from the Australian National University and a Ph.D. in Physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  An expert in computer simulations and IP strategy and management, he is the inventor of Scatter Attenuation Tomography (SAT) and other novel x-ray inspection technologies.  Dr. Rothschild is the inventor or co-inventor of more than 35 patents.

Jimmy Failla, VP Operations

Jimmy Failla, VP Operations

VP of Productization, Jimmy Failla, has more than 15 years of experience in product development and new product introduction; he has held key leadership roles in Service and Operations for Niton Corp. and Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc., where he founded and managed the New Product Introduction team for Thermo’s Portable Instrumentation Business.  Mr. Failla is a professional musician and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Andy Hanks

Andy Hanks, VP Software Development

Andy Hanks is the VP of Software Development.  Mr. Hanks has over 20 years of experience directing software engineering projects and managing engineering teams, working closely with the hardware engineers and scientists to define and develop embedded-system platforms and products, including operating systems (OS), application and user interface software.  Mr. Hanks earned his B.S. in Computer Science from Daniel Webster College.

Ken Martin

Ken Martin, VP Regulatory Affairs & Quality Programs

Ken Martin is the VP of Regulatory Affairs & Quality Programs. For more than 15 years, Mr. Martin was the Director of Compliance and Training, Radiation Safety Officer and R&D staff member at Thermo Fisher Scientific and Niton Corp. Earlier in his career, Mr. Martin was the Industrial Hygiene Officer at MIT and researcher at Harvard School of Public Health.  Mr. Martin earned his Masters of Science in Industrial Hygiene, Harvard University, and is certified as an Industrial Hygienist and Environmental Trainer. Mr. Martin is also the author or coauthor of multiple patents.

Jeff Warming

Jeff Warming, Chief Financial Officer

CFO, Corporate Treasurer and Secretary, Jeff Warming, has served in a variety of financial leadership roles with Fortune 500 Companies, including Director of Finance of the former Niton Business after its acquisition by Thermo Fisher Scientific, and other global business roles in the Clinical Diagnostics, Biosciences and Lab Equipment Divisions of Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc. Mr. Warming brings 25 years of successful financial experience with private and public companies, including Perkin Elmer, Williams Holdings PLC and MetLife (formerly, The New England Financial Group). Mr. Warming earned his B.S. in Business Administration – Finance from the University of Maine, Orono, and a Masters in Business Administration from Northeastern University.
